What are the differences between the SAT and the ACT????

<p>I'm going into my junior year, and I started my SAT Prep Today (using Princeton Reviews SAT Prep Book 2011 Edition).</p>

<p>Anyways, I always hear people talking about the ACT as well. What is the ACT? I'm going to be applying to schools such as Brown and MIT (if that means anything) when I become a senior, so should I take the ACT as well (even if I get great SAT scores)? I'm soooooooo confused.</p>
