I'm curious as to what they typical-CCer is reading these days. What are YOU reading? :)

I'm not reading anything (for enjoyment) at the moment.

nada
just got finish reading Bleak House

I'm restarting On the Road after two weeks of letting it sit on my desk when I was five pages in. My friend gave me a copy (she had two) a while ago.

A Darkness More Than Night ... pretty good if you like mysteries

For the girls:

It's not a challenging read at all, but I found it surprisingly enjoyable on a long trip this summer. Of course, I guess I kind of have weird taste. Also, the description on the back was kind of... off. So if you want something for pure enjoyment...
A Northern Light.

Nothing for enjoyment

The sound and the fury for english

I plan on picking up a few books after AP tests when I can relax (a little;))

one day in english i looked for my macbeth and found a book named "a woman's guide to love, sex, and intimacy" under the chair behind me. i opened it and saw a chapter heading named "with the lights on". i think there might have been position charts as well. the person sitting next to me grabbed it, and i have never seen it since
it's great literature. read it

i'm not reading anything right now, except "Lies my teacher told me" which deals with the puffing up of American history (and numerous cute lies and overgenralizations and ommisions)...it's been in my locker all year, so i pick it up when i have a study hall and nothing to do or something, prob never finish (little too liberal for my likeing), but it's interesting

I'm currently reading We the Living by Ayn Rand and Mourning Becomes Electra by O'Neill for fun. We just finished reading Hamlet for English. I plan on reading The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand after I finish We the Living, 'bout 60 more pages to go.

We're just starting Catch 22 in AP Lang.

that is a book worth reading, catch 22 that is
such a complex plot, so funny, so catchy

For English class: Tess of the D'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy

For enjoyment: Newsweek :)

just finished Murakami's Kafka on the Shore (fantastic) and Audrey Niffenger's Time Traveler's Wife (very good). In the middle of Amy Tan's The Bonesetter's Daughter (also very good)...I love TAKS week...lol

Is the TIMES magazine worth reading for the SAT? Or should I go deeper with New Yorker and Economists?

Nothing, but I will begin the Merry Wives of Windsor and get an Economist subscription. I also might read Genji Monogatari during the summer.

lil_killer129, personally, I think Time is just a bunch of gloss and should be read with a grain of salt. But then again, the SAT essay questions aren't very deep and the vocab can always be learned elsewhere. The New Yorker and The Economist are both my favorites.

I'm read "Snow Falling On Cedars" for school... I don't think there is much to be learned in that book, but it is pretty funny when all the pre-pubescent Asian guys in our AP English Lang class start blushing and giggling at all the sex scenes :D

Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead

it's pretty sweet, check it out

In Dubious Battle by John Steinbeck.

Not my choice.

Newsweek is good for leisure reading.

eh my beloved Time subscription has run out...and my parents won't renew...maybe i'll have to wait until my birthday(2 months) lol.
