What are you doing during the summer to get where you want to be in 10 years?
What do you think one should do to prepare for the rigors of becoming a Doc?
How can one start to make oneself competitive for the whole process?

Thanks.

I’m a junior in high school, so I am in no way a veteran of this whole Med School thing, but I am doing stuff over the summer so I’ll share. I’m going to be volunteering at my local hospital for several days a week. Maybe see if any doctors would let me shadow them. Lifeguarding. Studying for the SAT. Hanging out with my friends.

From what I understand from reading other boards, high school does not matter to Adcoms at all. I think the best thing we can be doing at this point in time is enjoying high school, and preparing to go to a good college. If you have shadowing/ volunteering/ research/ internship opportunities, then great! But you should not revolve your entire summer around it. That’s for undergrad. :P

You could always be a volunteer at a hospital and see if the whole thing appeals to you .
