What are you going to do when you get home Dec. 15?

I don't know much about the Early programs with those two schools, but I'm guessing they aren't binding in the sense that an applicant can apply to multiple schools early. Since Yale is Single Choice Early Action, we don't have that freedom.

Well I know that MIT is early action, but not Single Choice. I think Columbia's Early Decision, but I'm not too sure...

and thanks UofRBound? I'm likely to walk around in a daze for the next three days, and likely for several days after that too...

Columbia is Early DECISION so it should be completely, totally and utterly binding. Your friend shouldn't be waiting for the MIT decision because he signed a contract with Columbia stating that if he did get accepted, he would go. Even if he gets in, he would have to retract his application.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do next Monday. I have a Calc III final at the college on Monday at 5:30, and I live in the Central Time Zone.

Should I look at my admissions decision before or after my test?

I would suggest after...if you see before and get in, you'll be too excited to concentrate on the test. If you see before and get deferred/rejected, you'll be too bummed to concentrate on the test. After would probably be a better idea, but frankly, the curiosity would be eating me alive so if I were you, I wouldn't be able to concentrate on the test either.

Uh-oh. Looks like poor concentration no matter what. :/

Thanks a lot! I honestly wish they could post it sooner.... like Brown did yesterday.

^^^ No worries, my friend really wanted to go to Columbia, so he's totally happy with the outcome. Even if he does get accepted to MIT, he would never choose that over his dream school.

And that's a tough spot, glowing_ice, but I guess everything considered you should check afterward. It'll be easier to temporarily forget that Yale is giving out decisions on Monday than to forget that you got accepted/deferred/rejected.

I live on the West Coast, so it's 2:00 for me... I guess I'll check once I get home from school.

I'm gonna read all the rejected or accepted posts and run a complex algorithm based on the acceptance rate for five hours with the incoming results. Then I'll predict my chances of getting in, sacrifice a small sheep, and open my email...

I'm from India so it won't even BE Monday for me. Tuesday morning. And Monday is the last day of school forever. What timing.

When I get home on Monday, I think I'm going to try to take a nap until 6pm. I don't think I could handle staying up and agonizing over each minute that passes (and gets closer to 6pm). But then again...could I even fall asleep in that state of mind? After seeing Stanford's acceptances/deferrals/rejections though... I've only become more worried. >.<

Yeah, I think what I'll do is look at everyone's decision results here on CC.

Then at like 8:50/8:55 p.m. I'll check my decision. And then....... I'll watch Heroes to either forget or celebrate!

My friends are going to kill me for not checking ASAP. In fact, I'll probably kill myself. But, I waited 3 more days than I would've liked, 3 more hours would be okay.

^ yes, heroes is AMAZING

i'll probably buy the sweater from the site right away, but i'll think about telling my friends/putting it on my facebook. everyone at my school has gotten rejected/deferred except one guy whos a genius, so it wouldn't be fair to rub it in their faces.

I love Heroes! I will be watching it to comfort myself/celebrate!

VPof09: What sweater....?

52 more hours...

28 more hours

Are the results being released at 5pm or 6pm?
I was under the impression that they were being released around 6pm,
although the website is kind of vague: "Monday evening" ...

Originally the website said they would be posted by 6:00 PM EST, but then it was changed to "Monday evening."

So we don't really know.

I live in the Midwest, and we are supposed to have a huge snowstorm this evening.
So I might be home ALL MONDAY.

Oh lord, I hope it's five. I can't wait until six o'clock
