What Are You Listening To?

tenacious j- a bunch of circuit city stores (i think) released the CD before they were supposed to, but the official release date is tuesday the 19th. the circuit city near me, unfortunately, is not one of the ones that released it early :-(

now listening to- built to spill

this got popular fast...cool

i'm listening to coloursrun now...they're a great, really unknown band about to put out their first CD...you can listen to their stuff at http://www.coloursrun.com/music.htm

Pain by Jimmy Eat World

A perfect circle - Outsider

Starin Through My Rearview - 2pac

Parabola- Tool

Bright Eyes on my record player.

"Bright Eyes on my record player."

<3333333333333333333333333333

Has it really been a year since ES killed himself?

Iplayoboe, how is Pain?

More to the point, I'm listening to Murray Street by The Sonic Youth and later I'll probably put in The Joshua Tree by U2 because I'm nostalgic for the times when the album was new to me.

Eliott Smith....so sad. He stabbed himself in the heart-can't get much more emo then that. And who would have thought? His songs were so...uplifting. Giggle.

Beck - "Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime" from the Eternal Sunshine... album.

"He stabbed himself in the heart-can't get much more emo then that. And who would have thought? His songs were so...uplifting. Giggle."

That seems kind of disrespectful to me. I hate it that people make a martyr of him or something. He was just a great musician. That's what he should be remembered for, not how he died, IMHO. I'm just tired of so called "emo" kids making him into some kind of hero because he killed himself.

Anyway, I'm now listening to:
Testament to Youth in Verse- The New Pornographers

the defense - bad religion

Dispatch - "Two Coins"...soon to be "Railway"

oh, and i have to express my love for the music of senor elliott smith - i regret that he can't continue to create, but cherish what we have...

Such Great Heights- The Postal Service

I prefer the Iron & Wine cover, personally.

I'm tired of people making statements such as being a vegan, yet then spending large amounts of time online (must I list all the "causes" this counteracts). I too, am a bit tired of those who suddenly think "emo" is the coolest thing since sliced bread. However, I think it is clear to most people that Eliott Smith was both depressed and dyed in a pretty extreme, emotional way. Smith is in no way a martyr, just a good musician. I hope this stereotyping of a music genre which you have clearly barely scratched the surface of ends, as well as feeling the need to blatantly parade and exploit one's beliefs..."vegan" as a post name.

That bit of rambling was in response to:

dir en grey - AMBER

Well, I mean, it is quite clear that he lived his music. In many ways his suicide wasn't entirely a shock. As evident in his lyrics and just his general sentiment.
