They should be capping until social distancing is not in effect. Which should be largely until there is a vaccine or until a miracle happens and the virus disappears.
Good luck @sdl0625

I doubt they will. The only airlines that officially announced blocked middle seats are Alaska, Delta and Frontier. The others will try to keep them free but… I think I will fly Delta as much as I can.
Flight was fine. They hand out wipes, hand sanitizer and snacks in a baggie, and masks for those that dont have. They boarded back to front. I actually enjoyed being in a plane again
At gate area in ATL there was not as much SD as i would have liked, but i stayed away from people . If i was not near the door during deplaning i would stay in my seat until others were off. At FLL the seats in terminal were marked for SD. Security was not an issue.
The flight attendant said that likely not adding more routes until Sept.
This was better than the 10 hour drive . Weighing the options
And Southwest through September.
We rebooked United tickets, and couldn’t select middle seats.
We always book window and aisle and leave the center free, b/c thats how we like to sit. In the past, sometimes someone got stuck in between us, sometimes it was empty. We currently still have seats for a flight in about 6 weeks but the planes, based on seating availability, currently look pretty empty.
American Airlines is pretty full. I am flying in a week. Not looking forward to it. I chose the middle seat hoping they will block out both seats next to me. It worked last time but this time, I think I was being too clever.
The thought occurred to me this morning that 2020 may become the first year ever in my life that I haven’t been outside the US. Of course, it helps that I grew up on the Canadian border making it a common dinner destination in my youth while also giving us easy places to go to when visiting home after leaving for college and marriage.
Six months to go. We’ll see what happens.
Still…what a year.
Just got an email from my brother about planning a Club Med vacation May 2021. It will be after my niece’s wedding.
I sure hope travel will be more possible by May 2021!
People are traveling in Jul 2020, and some have started in May. I think I would be more comfortable in traveling to Taiwan/HKG/Japan than to Miami/Chicago/LA, but hey, I live in NYC.
Son is still planning on flying to Beirut on July 13. The airport is scheduled to open on July 1, but they are allowing only 10% of flights. So I would be surprised if his flight isn’t canceled.
Our friend, professor at AUB, wrote me again that he wishes Son would reconsider his plans, because things are getting worse by the day. The currency value is plummeting and the riots are bad. Son won’t listen to us, so there’s not much we can do. His Syrian girlfriend graduates from AUB in December. She’s safe because she’s on a full-ride scholarship from the US government and can stay in the dorm, even during the summer - the campus is very secure. I wish he would wait until she finished, then they could meet up wherever they decide to go at that point.
I am worried less about the travel than what you do once at destination.
One of our daughters says she might fly home to visit us.
I would too, but these countries (and many others) don’t welcome Americans, yet.
They are smart not to.
Can’t believe how packed the airport was in Seattle today…it was like typical summer travel months. Coronavirus apparently is no longer a threat to the traveling public around here.
So. I searched the forum to find the answer to this, and can’t find anywhere that instructs how to do this. How do you start a thread? Is it the box on the upper right of the screen that says “Ask your question now?” Seems like it would be, but I don’t want to ask a question and have it end up on the wrong forum somehow, and get abused by a bunch of teenagers.
@busdriver11, yes, that’s how you start a new thread.
I think it used to be worded more clearly.
Thanks, @1214mom! Yeah, I think it was something like, “Start a New Thread” or some obvious thing like that. Why make it so simple, what would be the fun in that?
2021 may be a challenging travel year for other reasons-- everyone that skipped trips in 2020 may be rescheduling them for 2021. The tour company I’m working with for next year is encouraging me to book fair soon because they are seeing lots of people push their dates and there may not be spaces next year.
