I'm wondering what beach you got to and why? My family usually goes to rehoboth, but I think next year I want to try one that's a little more residential and not as hotel oriented.
I have been to the outer banks and heard good things about topsail. On the east coast please. Thanks!! 😀

Long Island has a ton of nice beaches along the South Shore such as Jones Beach and Robert Moses. Out east by the Hamptons and Montauk the beaches are really nice but a bit more hotel-oriented.

Topsail FTW. I like Outer Banks too, but haven’t been since I was little so I don’t remember it much, but Topsail is amazing. Really beautiful, and NOT tourist-oriented (not a lot of condos, hotels, etc.) like Myrtle Beach.

Where on the East Coast do you live? My family usually goes to Point Pleasant and Seaside Heights, NJ, although I’m not sure that’s what you’re looking for. The beach in Seaside is really nice, but the city itself still isn’t fully recovered from Hurricane Sandy. Ocean City, MD is pretty nice too, but again, not sure that’s what you’re looking for. If you live further North, you could check out Cape Cod, or Mystic, CT.

I live in PA. We’ve driven to nc, sc Georgia, Maryland and Delaware for the beach before so it really doesn’t matter. Just nice beaches that your family goes to. Either a more residential one with rental houses or one That is more hotel based with a boardwalk and stuff.

How do people go to the beach in states further north than SC? The water is so cold.

If you are looking for hotels and boardwalk, then Wildwood NJ is the place to go. There is an endless number of hotels. If you want to get a little bit away from the crowds stay in Wildwood Crest which is also full of hotels but its a bit more family friendly. Also Wildwood and Wildwood Crest have free beaches! If you are looking for a house to rent without a boardwalk and just a few hotels, head to Long Beach Island NJ. Towns like Surf City, Beach Haven and Ship Bottom are located in the middle of the island and have many single family and duplexes to rent. The northern end of the island, Loveladies in particular, has multimillion dollar homes for rent.

Teenbodybuilder I just returned from the shore (that’s what we in Jersey call the beach) where the water was a balmy 72 degrees!!

Ouch. It was 86+ in Destin,FL when I went in July.

OBX all the way!!

…The water was 86+. Air temp was a nice 95.

Beach vacations are really boring though. Mostly because I don’t swim. I prefer the mountains.

a lot of NJ beaches have really nice boardwalks if you’re not into the beach scene. funnel cake? yes pleaseeee.

Myrtle Beach is pretty nice for the east coast.
