can a nio major go into investment banking??? haha

bio not nio

Actually I'm a bio major and I plan to go into finance. Granted, I'm double-majoring in economics/finance, but my bio degree is more of an interest than anything else and it doesn't have to be anything more.

Someone with a bio background could yes, but not with just a bio degree.

Would the reason that so many people want to do a biology course is that it overlaps with the requirements for pre-med?

To a certain extent yes. Or at least there are a lot more pre-med bio majors than any other science major. Although biochemistry is probably a much better prep for med school, bio is certainly seen as the easier major and hence people tend to be attracted to that. Most pre-meds often struggle with their chem and biochem courses and thus do whatever possible to limit the amout of those subjects they have to do.

I would recommend occupational therapy or physical therapy. You make a pretty decent paycheck and it's only going to improve with all the forecasts on the health industry.

You do need to get a master's, though. But as a bio major, I'm sure you wouldn't have much difficulty.

Forensics (for all you CSI fans) or Genetic Counseling are two "plan B's" for bio majors that do not go to med school, you would need grad school for those however...

What about biomedical engineering??Anybody got any idea about it?

Again, that's essentially chemistry / biochemistry. Someone with just a straight bio degree wouldn't really have the skills necessary for that sort of work.

whoever said the major is useless is an idiot, even with a BS there are tons of opportunities that are over 30K/yr, biotech is huge right now, you could also work in pharmaceuticals, hospital pathology labs, RD, QC, teach, etc. i am graduating in 1 week with my degree in microbiology, i have had 4 interviews for great jobs in the past 2 weeks.

Currently, my major is also Biology. But I'm thinking about Dual majoring in Biology and Business Administration. Of course, med or pharmacy school are still an option. But, what are other job opportunities if you combine Biology and Business Administration? Does it matter if you do a B.S. or B.A.?

With degrees in biology and business you can either go down the business route with a biological focus (get into pharma, biotech, healthcare management) or go down the science route and use your business skills as necessary (laboratory management, hospital administration, become a doctor and open up your own practice). Or you could do something entirely unrelated to your second field (simple pre-med/dent/vet or finance/accounting/consulting)

Does it matter of you do a B.A. or B.S. in Biology and Business Adm?
