What chance do I have to get into a high level boarding school?

Hi, So I would like to know the chances of getting into a high level boarding school (Exeter, St.Pauls, etc…)
I have a great resume with all A’s and currently taking Pre-calc and APUSH as a 9th grader. I also am a top16 squash player so I will probably be #1 on the team if I get in.
So, what chance do I have to getting in? Also, what should my goal SSAT be to get in?

If you have any more questions to determine my chance just ask me

I just want to applaud your successes thus far and encourage you to chase your dreams.

If that includes possibly going to boarding school next year, you need to take some actions soon, some of which you can do on your own, some which will require your parents help.

You will need to take standardized testing, you will need to do school interviews, and you will need to apply.

You can get help with those if needed. Ask the school(s) you wish to apply to for answers how.

After that, there is no magic formula. Read as much as you can so you can make smart choices where to apply, and how to make your application the strongest possible, and soon (March 10), you will know whether you have any options to consider.

It’s a lot of work, but the process itself will teach you so much, and one way or another will be a step towards building a life that fits you.

Best wishes,

PLD

High level athletes often can get a break with SSAT scores but not by much. The only way to know is talk to the coach.

It sounds like you’d be a good fit for most schools. However the biggest factor is if you need financial aid.

Yea, So. I am currently a strait A student and I will probably get a 99% on the math section 80% on reading and I am currently really working on the verbal section to get it up to above a 75%. I am really good on my writing section though. I do need financial aid. But, the coach talked to me last year and even sent me a christmas card so I think he is really interested. I wasn’t really interested in boarding school up until this point. But, I hope I have a good shot. Do you think so?

Cards get sent to a lot of people… Don’t read into it.

Please respond! any more feedback?

Applying for financial aid at most of these schools is almost like a death sentence. Unless you are an Olympic level squash player it will take some serious pushing by the squash coach to help.

Look at Andover. They are need blind and their headmaster is a squash guy.

What are your actual SSAT scores? You really need higher than mid80’s to be competitive.

Haven’t taken SSAT yet. But, I took a few practice tests. Got usually a 99% on math, 85% on Reading, and usually a 75% on verbal. I am really working on verbal and it has improved a lot. The classes I am taking in 9th grade currently are Pre-Calculus, Honors Chemistry, AP US History, and American Literature. I am also very good in Tech. I have taken HTML, C++, and Java. These are also all on my transcript.

That “death sentence” statement was inaccurate. But broaden your idea of “top schools,” and make sure to check spelling and punctuation on everything you submit.
