I am apart of Brown 2018 class. I am a little nervous about what to expect with new tough courses and new roommates. I was wondering if anyone had any advice for incoming students or if any incoming students feel the same way. In all what we all will look forward to when going to brown next year

I would just say to expect to take time to make friends. Acquaintances sure, but friends take a while to develop and people leaving HS after knowing friends for 4+ years can forget that. My daughter didn’t have any problem with her first year roommate, but no connection either. She had friends elsewhere in the dorm. The next year she moved into a suite with 2 friends from class and one FOF and liked that better.

I wouldn’t recommend taking more than 4 classes your first semester. I know you will want to take more but it is probably better in most cases to take the time to assess the difficulty or not and have time for campus life. People also forget that classes are easy at first but it is another matter when midterms and finals are all at once.
