My D is applying this fall and I’m looking for opinions on what services to use and which ones to avoid! We’ve had some bad experiences in the past, and I think the CC community would know best. Also, I know lots of other parents are looking for online resources so we can all help each other out!
We are “starred” out on posting the ones I like.
I’d be interested to read the answers!
I like collegedata.com for common data set type of info.
I like http://nces.ed.gov/collegenavigator/
It’s run by the Dept. of Education, so I’m confident that the statistics I read are real.
Among the things I’ve found useful is the percentage of kids that receive institutional aid, and the average amount.
If 98% or 97% of the student body receive an average of $10,000 from the school, then I can probably assume that my son will receive somewhere in that ballpark.
So far, it’s matched what the Admissions people we’ve spoken to have told us from the individual schools.
I like Niche for the admission stats and scattergrams. I like Quora for discussion threads.
