Public university? Check out Berkeley or Michigan.
Private university? Check out Harvard, Penn, Chicago.
LAC? Consider Bryn Mawr or Beloit.

However, rather than trying to identify the best college for this specific major, you may be better off picking a set of schools on a more holistic basis. Do look at the course catalogs to see if they have interesting courses in anthropology. But keep in mind that many undergraduates change majors, and that anthro is an inherently interdisciplinary subject. If you plan to get a graduate degree in it, you’ll be well served by a broad liberal education at nearly any good school you like. Courses in languages and linguistics, history, sociology, biology, etc., would all be part of the program.

I also might be interested in cultural anthro… How do you know which schools have good departments?
