What colleges should I apply to?

My GPA is a 2.6 and my SAT score is a 1620. I am willing to go anywhere in New England or New York. $ is not a concern. I want a list of 10 schools (reach, match, safety) but don’t know where to start. The three schools on my list right now are Emmanuel, UMASS Amherst, and Berklee School of Music. I am also applying to UMASS Dartmouth as a safety. Any other ideas of good school that are a good fit for me?

Try using the SuperMatch function on CC

You posted the above in the financial aid forum a couple weeks ago. Has something changed since then? If your parents won’t pay for school, cost is a huge concern. You can only borrow the ~$5500/year student loan. I don’t believe your SAT and GPA are high enough for merit aid anywhere. If you’re a NYS resident, the student loan and a summer job would probably pay the tuition so you could commute to a SUNY, but you’d probably have to work during the year to cover transportation and books. If you’re not a NYS resident, look for a school within commuting distance in your home state.

New England College in New Hampshire, Dowling College in New York, Long Island University, Mercy College,

“$ is not a concern” = $ is ALWAYS a concern unless you’re a trust fund baby, but if you were a trust fund baby you wouldn’t be posting here. SO, what’s your budget?

Berklee school of music is very very very very expensive.
I don’t think it’d be worth it unless you’re at soloist-level already.
What are your state/national musical awards? What career are you hoping for?

UMass Amherst is too high a reach. (You can reach LBad96’s story - he had done everything right for UMass beause that’s where he really wanted to go, but even a 2.8/2000 didn’t get him in.)

Umass Dartmouth, Umass Boston if you can commute.

Temple?

Aaron Copland School of Music

Castleton University
Atlantic Union College
SUNYs
Rhode Island College
Franklin Pierce University

Have your parents now agreed to pay for college? In your other thread, you wrote that they won’t pay even tho they have a high income.

what is the truth?

@mom2collegekids

I don’t understand why you feel the need to play detective on an anonymous advice forum. My friends and I share this account and take turns asking questions. My friend has a 2.6 and I have a 3.9. You got me!!

In the future, there is no need to asking what the truth is and refer back to previous posts as you have done MANY times on my posts. There are different people using this account and hopefully that doesn’t bother u too much.

Thank you for those that offered helpful advice to my friend.
