What colleges should I apply to?

I’m an upcoming senior doing the IB Diploma Program. My sat is a 1450/1600. My unweighted gpa is a 3.7 and my weighted gpa is a 4.6. I’ve taken all honors, AP and IB classes. I’ve had an upward trend. Freshman: 3.8 Sophomore: 4.2 Junior: 4.95.

I’m involved in the bowling team, link crew, NHS, Four Diamonds and I founded my own social justice/activism club. I also work 13-15 hours a week at a shoe store to help my family. I’m Hispanic and a first generation student. My intended major is psychology or neuroscience.

My counselor says that my stats are not good enough for top 100 colleges (not Ivy League or top 20). Do you guys agree?

I disagree with your counselor. You can get in. The question is what can you afford? How much aid will you get? What state are you in?

I’m in Pennsylvania and I’ve heard that top schools give the most financial aid so I don’t think that would be a problem.

Schools vary in merit and need. Have your parents run the NPC for some schools. It will give you an idea of what to expect. Have a few low cost safety schools on your list.
