So, I have quite a few colleges I would love to attend but I would really appreciate an honest opinion of what kind of university I can REALISTICALLY shoot for with the following:
SAT: 2190 (CR: 740 M: 760 W: 690)
ACT: 31 (I'm retaking and definitely shooting for a 33 and up, I didn't even know the question format at the time haha, just wanted to try it out)
UW GPA: 3.75
W GPA: 4.9
I've also taken the most rigorous course load I can possibly take.
Last year this included all honors/ 3 AP classes along with dual enrollment
AP Art History: 3
AP Psych: 4
AP Human Geography: 4
This year I am taking 5 AP classes (Self studying AP European History) along with 1 online class and 3 dual enrollment classes.
Around 300 volunteer hours (nothing spectacular, tutoring mostly)
Okay EC's, President of a club, Board Member SGA, Board member of 2 other clubs that I've kept a consistent role in throughout highschool.
I'm a Junior presently soo yeah :3
Any opinions in the right direction would be great!

This is my first post, I really would appreciate some sort of idea :)

What’s your major? Is money a factor? Do you want a certain location/climate?

Oh, I never thought to mention those kind of things, sorry!
Biomedical Engineering
Eh, money will likely not be a very important factor.
And Anywhere at all! Preferably New England area
Resident Floridian by the way.

Stevens, RPI, WPI, Lehigh, Stony Brook, Binghamton, Boston University, just to start.

I would also look at Bucknell. Good luck!

Thank you guys!
So would shooting for schools like USC, Carnegie Mellon, so on, be a stretch?

Since you said you preferred the New England area I didn’t suggest USC, but it is definitely a great school and your stats are in range. S was accepted there and is giving Viterbi engineering college serious consideration. I would apply to CMU as well.

I think USC is one of the feww west coast schools I would consider… Congrats to him! USC is a great school! I surely will apply to both.

Also, University of Rochester (good with merit money).

Check out University of Maryland at College Park - the Gemstone (Honors) Program would be especially appropriate given your interests. The location is especially good for internships given the presence of NIH and the biotech industry based in the area.

Oh thank you, the U of R is definitely on my list, im a native Rochesterian so that would be nice I’ve never looked into Maryland… I guess I will now!

Just to update and see if anyone else has some insight:
My ACT went up to a 33
My rank is now 2 in a class of 150
UW: 3.77
W: 4.95
And I’ve taken 7 Dual Enrollment classes to date and have a 4.0 College GPA
I’m in the running for National Merit
I’m a National Hispanic Recognition Scholar
And I’ve accumulated around 600 volunteer hours (nothing crazy but thats in addition to my other ECs)
Any new thoughts!? :D

bumpp… :DD

Have you considered Tufts and JHU?

JHU I’ve heard of but where is Tufts?
Are they on the same tier?
Thank you by the way :)

Congrats on your scores. :)

Tufts is in the Boston area…my nephew goes there. It is a well-ranked school.

What kind of school do you want outside of academics.

*Eh, money will likely not be a very important factor.
*

Just make CERTAIN of this with your parents. Ask them if they’ll pay $55k+ per year for college. If they won’t, then you’ll need to make sure that you include some “financial safety” schools…these are schools that will accept you AND will be affordable because of assured merit scholarships, small student loans, and/or family funds.

What was your PSAT? Florida’s cutoff has been around 210/11 lately.
