I'm a transfer student at UNC and this is my first semester. I'm a junior, so I only have a few semesters left to do everything. I've asked about what exactly counts as EE credit, but the answer I keep getting is, "you just need to do a service learning course." But what else counts? I know study abroad, but I don't have 10k laying around for a summer abroad. Are the volunteer programs (overseas) I see advertised everywhere something that would count as EE? Someone fill me in!

Examples of experiential education would be:

Mentored research
Approved service learning
Courses with substantial field work
Study abroad
Departmental or UNC internships

Look at the UNC 2013-2014 Undergraduate Bulletin and specifically at experiential education and all the courses that fullfill the EE requirement are listed by course number.

Here is the official listing. Type “Experiential Education” into the find bar.

http://www.unc.edu/ugradbulletin/requirements.html

Google “unc apples courses” and you should get a list of courses offered that satisfy the EE requirement; there are one or two in most subjects. I couldn’t afford to study abroad and ended up taking a Japanese archeology class [taught in English] to fulfill EE.
