What defines an underperforming high school?

I know colleges take into account the quality of the high school when they evaluate your application. But I am worried. I am looking at my school profile, and it states that the median SAT is ~1400 out of 2400, 55% go off to colleges, 10 AP classes are offered, in which most have a 50% pass rate (3 or higher). Also, do colleges take into account the budget/ money per student for the school? I find that since my school is pretty poor, it limits academics to an extent.

In relation to my class, I am pretty well-off. But what I really need to know is how much my schools' stats is going to affect my chances. I mean, I do have a few B's (in AP classes) on my transcript, so I'm a bit worried that it'll seem...undeserved I guess. Does my school even qualify as 'underperforming?'

Thanks.

Don’t worry about it. These schools know it’s not your fault that you go to a public school, and there’s nothing you can do to change it. 50% pass rate on AP exams is about average. Now…do 55% go to 4 year colleges ore 55% go to 4 year and 2 year colleges?

I was the first person ever from my school to get into a USNWR top 20 school (got into Emory and Notre Dame), but then again, I’m only in the 2nd graduating class at my school, so it’s not that big of an accomplishment.

Just worry about what you can control and do what you can to excel in the cards you’re being dealt, and chances are you’ll do ok as far as admissions to top colleges.

Well, 4% go to 2 yr colleges. So in total 59%. It just kinda concerns me because I am 6th in my class, and by looking at the pure stats of my school, it won’t mean much to adcoms (although the 5 people ahead of me are smart and have taken more weighted classes than I have)
