For those of you who got into MIT, what did you do? What did your application look like?
@Sethan73 besides grades and test scores (my SAT I was pretty weak actually), I had pretty strong EC’s and national-level awards (mostly math-related) and good rec letters. Essays/short answers were probably okay. But as an MIT student, it’s not my job to tell you what activities to do to get into MIT, other than, do what you enjoy.
I sacrificed a goat to Yog-Sothoth, hence my name.
There’s a pretty extensive collection of applicant profiles in the results thread stickied at the top of this forum, and there are links to a further 7 years of decisions threads in the first post of the stickied FAQ thread.
@MITer94 I bet they frowned upon that 2390 lol
Had subpar SATs scores and was not valedictorian. I’m guessing my strong ECs are the cause (science research: international awards in science competitions; published research in journals). But reiterating what @MITer94 said: “But as an MIT student, it’s not my job to tell you what activities to do to get into MIT, other than, do what you enjoy.”
