I loved the Favorites section. At the time, it really stressed me out, but when I went to USC for a scholarship interview an admissions counselor kind of pulled me aside and told me that my Quick Takes (USC's version of favorites) were beautiful and memorable and awe-inspiring. And that made me sooooo happy that I decided that I love that section of every application.

I love that Princeton even has that section.

I'm definitely obsessive about grammar; I always end up spending most of newspaper layout weekends copyediting other people's articles. It's pretty painful.

Though, do you find that people who use perfect grammar sound a bit off? Little odd things like using possessive pronouns before gerunds.

Heh, I was thinking about that today as well! It sounds so weird to be saying that stuff because then people might think that you can't speak English properly, but I usually just reword the sentence to avoid any problems.

sesquipedalian - which means a very long word, or alternatively, it means one and a half feet (as in poetry), but I like to think of it as 18 inches.

These are so good! I'm currently adding most of them to my LIST OF WORDS I LIKE LIST, which is nerdy but really fun and a good way to pass time in Calculus and History and things.

Camelia, the first word on my list was repartee!!

I wish I could just sit in an office and read people's favorites for a day. I mean, on the third day, it would get old, but it would be so entertaining. I know we had a thread like this a long time ago and it was really interesting to me.

Do you think people's favorite words speak to their personality at all?

I think I really want to work in the admissions office at whatever college I end up. I don't care if I'm reading essays, or if I'm just filing, but that would be my ideal on campus job.
