What do colleges look for in a teacher Rec?

what would you put in a teacher rec to make the student outstanding? (im filling out the student input sheet for my teacher rec)

I think a particular anecdote about what made you special from everyone else would really help. Of course, the teacher could just write about how you’re the most outstanding student he/she has ever had, but that’s boring and every single teacher writes that. It doesn’t have to be a story about how you saved your teacher’s life - it could be something as small as you having volunteered to go first for a certain activity that no one else wanted to do, etc.etc. Don’t just provide adjectives about you - prove it!!
Hope that helped. :)

They probably want to make sure that your teacher likes you. I don’t think like that though, because that is wrong. But that might make it easier for your teacher to say nice things about you.

The MIT advice is generally what the CC community recommends.

Outside of that, a rec should be specific, with anecdotes, mentions of particularly strong papers/projects, or an assessment of the student’s particular strengths.
