Hello, I am a rising freshman and I know it’s kind of early to start worrying about this kind of stuff but I want to start early, it seems like a lot of people my age are already doing things like the SAT and I want to progress as well. Do colleges care about self studied AP classes? What do they look for? What programs do you recommend? What don’t they care about? What classes should I take? Does it matter does my high school only offer 4 AP classes? What should I start doing now to get in? I don’t really know much about this and would like to learn more. Thankyou in advance
It’s too early to start picking schools. Your future plans could change in a million ways between now and when you apply. Just do your best and explore the things you like.
Get involved in things that you love. Spots at top schools go to kids who seek out opportunities, think outside the box and have the ECs to back up their passion in a subject!
Ivies are caring less and less about APs, and it doesn’t matter to them if your school only has 4 of them. I was set on self-studying APs as well at your age, but I recommend against it. Your time can be better spent in so many different ways.
Keep your unweighted GPA up, get good test scores and love what you do. It’s good to have a goal like Princeton, but make sure that you use it to inspire yourself, not to stress yourself out.
