So I got put in charge of a group of freshman for the first week of school at Clemson. I'm thinking about sending them a email tomorrow with maybe some FAQ's or hints or something.

So if you're a freshman, what do you want to know about college? or if you're not, what do you wish someone would've told you.

Now keep it appropriate, I don't want to be kicked out before the first week even starts haha

You don’t even have to give them FAQs, just introduce yourself and tell them a little bit about yourself. Then let them know to email you if they have any questions. It’s kind of hard to say what tips to give them unless you’re only talking about one area such as housing, fin. aid, meals, transportation, etc.

agree with chaichia.

I had a peer mentor for the Honors Program at UW, and he just emailed to introduce himself, tell me about his majors, what he does around campus (I am part of this club, volunteer here, and work at the library, etc…). Then he just told me that if I had any questions to not hesitate to contact him, and he’ll try his best to answer them.

Different people may have different questions, so it’ll probably be easier to just send an email giving the freshmen a choice to ask you questions or not. If only a few freshmen have questions for you, then you can concentrate on answering their questions.

My freshman workshop leader sends emails occasionally just to give us information or say something helpful.
I’ve gotten book-buying tips, information about the area, and a description of the kind of activities the school offers.
He’s also posting “top 5” lists every week, which isn’t really useful right now, but probably will be once we get there.

What the first day of class is generally like or something like that might be nice to know too.
I still don’t like to directly email people to ask questions like that (from an indirect group email, to someone I’ve never actually met), so I probably wouldn’t send anything anyway.
As a matter of fact, I haven’t sent anything. =P

sounds good guys, thanks for the tips haha
