i am currently a freshman and Wharton is my dream/reach school. i know i shouldn’t be too worried about college right now but I wanted to know what classes and EC’s i should take throughout high school to better my chances.
I go to a large public school in NC that rarely sends kids to the ivy league, will that affect my chance?
For right now – keep your grades near perfect and keep taking the hardest classes you can while getting the highest grades possible. As for ECs – they don’t have to be anything specific, but find things to get deeply involved in.
Going to a public school that doesn’t send kids to the ivys regularly will play in your favor; when it comes down to the margins (which most Wharton applicants do), there is a slight bump in being from a non-popular school as they want a “diversity” of schools represented – so it’s better for them to take their 1st candidate from your school in your admissions year rather than their 8th candidate from an over represented school in NYC.
