I am a sophomore in Michigan at a school comprised of roughly 400 students in my class. The last time I checked, which was freshman year, I was ranked 40 something. Now this is for one main reason, Honors. My school only offered one Honors class and no other advanced classes for freshmen, so I took English 9 Honors and got B+s. Others didn’t and therefore got higher GPAs. Enough about that though.
So I mainly came here to ask about what I should do over the summer to increase the competitiveness of my application to these top tier schools. Below are my stats.
Stats
- Freshamn PSAT (new): 1000 (I didn't study)
- Sophomore PSAT (new): 1140/1520 (I didn't study)
- GPA (unweighted): 3.8/4.0
Honors Classes (I’ve taken all that I can so far, no APs offered for sophomores or freshmen, all unweighted as well)
- English
- Analytical Chemistry
- Algebra 2
*NOTE: All except for English are just called those things, however they are the advanced classes of the subject
Extra Curriculars
- Key Club member (volunteering)
- Science Olympiad member
- Other volunteering
- Varsity Soccer
NEXT YEAR:
Classes
- AP Gov
- AP Language and Composition
- AP Chemistry
- Physics
- Spanish 4
- Pre-Calc
Extra Curriculars
- Varsity Soccer
- Science Olympiad
- Key Club
- NHS
- Robotics Team
- Debate Team
- PEERS
- Trying to create Entrepreneur/ Business and Stock Market club
- Made $500+ in Stock Market
Now to what I have planned for this summer:
This summer is going to give me a busy schedule. I have planned on a daily bases to study for the SAT 1-2 hours a day (math portion mostly), read 1 hour a day (help with English portion of SAT), 1 hour fitness (my health). I am also going to get a tutor for SAT. I am going to travel Europe with my family for 3 weeks, but between these things on have some time. With this time I plan to launch a business. I think I’m going for a clothing line, I am not sure yet. I’m also looking at taking online courses from Ivy Colleges or other prestigious ones and I’m going to try to teach myself coding (or go to a local college and take a course).
I know this doesn’t look very good, but I am looking to improve myself as much as I can. If there are any people out there that would help me with reaching the Ivy’s or other very good schools that would be great (just leave a comment and it’ll help).
