What do i need to get into Columbia, please help me?

Does anyone have any other input? Maybe from current students, it doesn’t have to be Columbia, it can be any other Ivy League. I REALLY wanted to go to Columbia but from what am reading most international students there are the kids of extremely wealthy people, thats definitely not my life story since i am a very low-income student.

Columbia doesn’t supply financial aid for internationals…

^This is not true. From the Columbia website:

“We do award financial aid to foreign students, though financial need is taken into consideration at the time of admission. We meet 100% of the demonstrated financial need of every student admitted as a first-year who applied for financial aid and continue to meet 100% of demonstrated financial need for all four years of study.”

I really wish Columbia got as much funding as Princeton or Harvard because honestly thats where i really want to go :/

Don’t rule out applying. The key is to apply, but be realistic about your chances. You can also look for outside scholarships. Although it is difficult not to focus on that one ‘dream school’, try not to become so enamored that you miss out on other wonderful opportunities. Have faith! I am sure that wherever you choose to go will be the perfect school for you!

Your right its just i felt like Columbia was for me as soon as i stepped on campus even before i had the slightest idea of how prestigious the school actually was. When i got to high school and found out i thought it was the whole package, only to realize that my chances of getting accepted are extremely small.

^If you are admitted, Columbia will meet 100% of your demonstrated financial need, just like Princeton and Harvard.

your right but the problem is getting admitted and considering i didn’t discover the cure for cancer or any the chances are very slim and i cant really blame since if i was in their position i would probably put the money into educating someone better :/

glassesarechic is absolutely right. I used to really want to go to Princeton since I thought that I had no chance of getting into Columbia, and I ended up getting accepted into Columbia and waitlisted at Princeton. My friend was accepted into Harvard and Princeton but got rejected from Columbia. Another friend was accepted into Columbia and was rejected from Cornell. Top schools are looking for specific people, so if you just want to go to a top school apply to many and hope you nail one that’s specifically looking for you. I believe that your application is solid enough to get you into at least one of them. Good luck!

thanks, you have no idea how helpful this was.
