<p>Do they think you want to work with them less if you also apply to work with someone else? Do they even find out? Do all schools allow you to do this?</p>
<p>You’re encouraged to have more than one faculty member in mind when applying to schools.</p>
<p>This is more or less expected - most schools recommend that you have 2-3 faculty members with whom you would like to work. Not only does it make it more likely that you will be accepted, it also provides a backup in case things don’t work out with your advisor.</p>
