What do the numbers before the names in the NMSF press release mean?

See here: <a href="http://www.ibabuzz.com/education/wp-content/uploads/files/2009/09/natlmeritsemifinalists.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.ibabuzz.com/education/wp-content/uploads/files/2009/09/natlmeritsemifinalists.pdf</a></p>

I think that is the College Major interest code (entered by the student) from the PSAT test.

^ Woah… do you know where to get that PDF (list of finalists or semifinalists) for another state besides California?

^ I just stumbled upon that on a google search. It looks like it’s a press release so I’m sure there are copies for other states floating around somewhere. There is also an email address you could try. It’s obviously not private information, you know?

^^ Just Google “SEMIFINALISTS IN THE 2010
NATIONAL MERIT® SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM [Insert name of your state here]”

The link posted here is related to California only. Thanks Dnerd.

Anyone here that did not find their state?

is there a place where all states are listed?

mazewanderer said “is there a place where all states are listed?”
I would like to know too, please if somebody knows the answer share it with us. Thanks.

Greenery: Are you looking for a particular state?

I am thinking the press releases were probably sent to the media on an individual state basis.

That’s right, without identifying the state, they didn’t publish it…I have been googling in the suggested form here without success. I was wondering if many states did not publish it neither.
