Glad to hear you enjoyed it! It is a totally different school, isn’t it? Not a dinky little overpriced backup commuter school anymore! Well, we can debate the whole overpriced issue another time… that’s true of every top school nowadays.

I’m not sure what I thought SC was before, but I definitely never saw it as a dinky, urban commuter school.

To come full circle with my question about where USC students hang out, I’m just sorry that the Village at USC will not be completed during my son’s time in school. As much as the whole “college town” thing was derided by some here, it looks like SC recognizes that students want an area close to campus with bookstores, restaurants, movie theaters etc where they can hang out. The Village is going to be amazing and a applaud the university for making it happen.

cbrand, thanks for coming back and posting about your trip. So glad it turned out well. Boy, you were there on what had to be the hottest weekend of the year!

I’m not up on the timetable for the new Village, but I believe they hope to break ground this spring? USC has very fast construction turnaround, so it may be open in time for those applying this season to enjoy it down the road a bit. I’m sure it will be too late my my son '15, but I always think the school’s commitment to such major improvements indicates the long-term growth of the university.
