A current student put it this way. “Not everyone that attends MHC identifies as a woman. Mount Holyoke is a Women’s College, not an ALL women’s college. This issue arises when you use the word all, but it is simple to omit.”
That made a lot of sense to me.
I heard recently that they are trying to get in the habit now of saying a “historically women’s college.” Sad in my opinion. I am fine with someone who self identifies as a woman, but they should be comfortable with the term “women.” Tyranny of the small minority (whom I would not treat badly, but they should not over rule the much larger majority who have a right also to the kind of school they chose.)
