What do you know about being a DIETITIAN (aka Nutritionist)??

Hello!

Well, I started a thread talking about myself and other school selection stuff..but I was told I should try to be 100% certain about what I want to study. To make it short:
I'm a 20 year old senior about to graduate abroad from a law degree (bachelor's degree level). I want a career change and was looking around (highschool psych tests, personality tests, so on) other careers that might be more in line with my interests. My list got narrowed down to: Intl Relations, PR and Dietetics.

Yes, Dietetics is completely different to everything I've done so far, but I really like it. I've explored the education opportunities, programs and so on, and could absolutely see myself in this area. I've even considered doing a a MPH if I consider this path and that way link it to my international relations passion.

But I want insights, opinions.. I know I'm more letters-oriented, but I do remember I was very fond of chemistry while at HS and although it may be tough I'll try my best. Hospitals, clinics and so on don't seem that bad of a work place and helping others is very important to me. I also mentioned in my thread elsewhere that I might join armed forces and I researched a program they have regarding dietetics (together with Baylor).

Are you a dietitian? Give me your insight. Do you know about this major? please let me know your opinion about it.

help:)

My sister is a registered dietician. She has spent most of her career working in hospitals or nursing homes. She now specializes in managing nutrition for patients who need to be tube-fed. Earlier, she worked with patients with eating disorders of various kinds, and managing diets for people who’d had their stomachs stapled. She finds the work very interesting and rewarding. There are lots of job opportunities, and the pay is reasonably good though not way up there in the stratosphere. Her undergraduate courses were pretty much the same as what you’d take as a premed, with some added field-specific courses. She later got a master’s degree.

She was a very good student, especially in math/science, with high grades and test scores. She could easily have gotten into med school if she had been so inclined.

thank you jingle for this info.

I’m trying to gather as much information as possible. :)

You probably found this site yourself already, but just in case:
