small things, big things, any thing. hopefully not just "well, they had my major...," though. i'm looking for reasons that we can all relate to :] especially after reading all of those awful urban dictionary definitions :\ give me some things to love about Case, people! :)

As a parent I love the fact that they award generous merit scholarships and attract strong student.

I also liked the way the tour guides seemed passionate about their school, including music opportunties (important for my son).

im really interested in attending case but ive heard so many horror stories about it. can someone plz share their experiences?

We’re planning to visit around the 2nd weekend in April.

Despite the original title, the following url/thread includes some positive info (look for posts starting I think in the January timeframe). I’m glad you started this thread, with a more appropriate title.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/case-western-reserve-university/732295-cant-shake-bad-feelings-about-case.html

I’m almost never on here anymore, but this caught my attention, mainly because i’m sick of Case people (not you guys, its understandable for all of you to be curious) complaining about things that are their own fault. I’ve been here for the past four years, listening to students whining that there’s no social life, when ALL they do is sit in their own room playing warcraft. I’ve had an incredible time here with an awesome social life, because i’m willing to put myself out there an meet new people. I urge you all to ignore the horror stories you hear, because every person I know at Case that puts a little effort into having a good time here, does exactly that.

That being said, I love that 95% of the time, even the most social kids here are serious about school. People here will understand that you have a big exam on the upcoming Monday, so this weekend will be a bit more relaxed than usual- and more often than not, your friends will be right there with you studying.

I love having a close group of friends with whom to hit the bars on the weekends, go to all the museums around university circle, concerts, broadway musicals, raid any and every event on campus that involves free food, etc.

I love that with the numerous graduate schools on campus, there are tons of labs around if you want to get involved in research.

Believe it or not, I love being so close to Cleveland, which provides a lot more entertainment than you might imagine.

I love a lot of my professors, and of course others not so much.

I love that Case allows you to switch freely between the separate undergraduate schools (weatherhead, engineering, arts and sciences).

I <3 the snow.

Ditto the part about hating when people complain.

In no particular order

1) I love my major, love (most of) the professors and TAs in BME, they are amazing people and are always willing to help.

2) Cultural stuff like the orchestra and museums is walkable

3)I made amazing friends, some of my best friends are from freshman year

4) I love the relative flexibility in my curriculum (I’m an engineer, which is inherently pretty inflexible) that allowed me to study abroad for a year

5) I have loved being a part of Greek life, my big sis is really like a big sis to me.

6) I love that we do have tons of opportunities to get involved in research

7) I also love that there are so many engineers that are interested in non-engineering things like music or theater…

I could go on…

This helped a lot, I got into Case and my mom has been looking at it but really can’t decide whether I should go there or not due to the rumors of the dead social life and “mistake by the lake” sayings. Plus I’ve been an avid video gamer (not the anti-social kind though) in my high school career and she has concerns of me going to college and continuing it =P
After reading this my mom feels a lot more confident about possibly sending me to Case and researching it myself I feel like there is plenty I’d love to do at Case. (besides, Warcraft is a game I just won’t ever let myself touch)
I have to choose between Case, Bentley, and Fordham. So its a tough choice between a great school in Cleavland, and two other good schools in very business oriented cities.
So my question is does the backdrop of the city of Cleavland support Case Western’s Undergrad Business program?
I’m asking this because of the negative publicity about privatization and the economy of Ohio.
and can anyone tell me if getting an internship is relatively easy or does it turn out to be a big time waster? Northeastern has a program like that and I heard rumors of it being a nightmare.
Thank you very much!

OP - Have you visited your schools? That’s how you can get the best picture of things.
