i saw a similar thread starting on CMU section.
so i was just wondering what students at Case love and hate about the campus or Cleveland..
i'm applying to case in a month or so, but never visited...
i would like to visit, but it's just hard to go all the way up to cleveland (i live near philly)..
but i will visit if i do get accepted...
so tell me what you guys love and hate.
thanks~

I'm a freshman, biomed major

Love: everything
Hate: nothing

Lots of work but you study because everyone else is. Lots of chances to get involved in extracurricular.

thank you! that's what I wanted to hear from a freshman engineer student at Case..
Now I really really really want to go to Case!!!!
Hopefully, I'll do well on October SAT.. SAT is the only missing piece in my profile =(

i'm also a freshman bme student

Love(the most, just to keep it short): the pulse of the campus(not social life exactly, but everything that can even make up the campus)
Hate: No access to the uber-cool research buildings unless you have connections or research at those buildings...or if you join the Baja team...which gives you access to all the Engr buildings...that's pretty darn cool....

if you didn't know already, we all have our ID cards with Mag strips on the back for swiping for meals and gaining entry to all buildings(except for residential halls, which we are allowed entry by just putting your card close to a prox. mag reader, for we have a chip in our cards). buildings on campus are all open(cept for the professional schools, i believe, like the med school) until 5PM(i think...or 6PM, close enough..), then they lock down, and won't allow access unless your card has been given access. such as a professional school situation...i have access to the research tower at the med school for research, but no access to the med school itself(even though they are physically connected, and my lab is actually in the med school, not in the research tower...it's kinda funny to think about it).

sorry it was so drawn out..but i felt that the hate part had to be justified..cause it's really not that bad. who wants to stay on the quad past 6PM anyway? :P

thank you!

Love: classes, the ECs, and the people. I am a nerd. :)
Hate: the required meal plan as I'd prefer to just make my own food, plus I'm not a fan of cafeteria food in general. I also don't like how now there are ten million frosh always crowding the dining hall so you either have to eat really early or really late if you want a place to sit!
I also don't like a lot of the superfluous spending that goes on here, but unfortunately that would likely happen at any college. I do feel a little justified, however, because Case is now officially several million dollars in deficit.
A word to eri: there's a difference between where you're allowed to go and where you can sneak in. For example you can always get into Nord due to the comp lab after hours and hence go into all of Sears, and if Strosacker's open for the Film Society you can go into all of Smith (and Rockefeller if you do it right). Plus when you declare your major you can just go anywhere that matters for you anyway.

stargirl: the "deficit" statement is not correct. Read the notice to the campus community that Case released. The article in the paper was misleading. The expenditures were planned expenditures...not a deficit

psatmadness is right. although it is very interesting that the news has been taken off the news center for case.edu, above is the google cache of the statement released by case. if you search the key word "deficit" on the main case.edu homepage, you will receive 4 results, with the second one leading to this cache..but not the page.
