What Do You Not Like?

I really love USC, but I worry that I've only seen the good things about it and I'm missing out on the negative sides. What do you not like?

It would be nice if there was more on campus universiyt housing

^ That is a good one - more on-campus housing would be a great improvement.

I don’t like that some of my favorite College Confidential kids - dreamsupsidedOwn and tornados, for example - were not accepted this year…

It’d be nice if all the freshmen dorms had air conditioning.

It’d be nice if it cost less.

It’d be nice if 90% of the bikes on campus didn’t consist of frikkin’ BEACH CRUISERS.

It’d be nice if I could actually find a non-work study job.

mmm… that’s about it.

Overall, I LOVE USC and I my experience has been fantastic.

If I had to name a few things, I wish the surrounding area was a bit nicer and had some more food options. Also I’m not hugely positive on Los Angeles as a city although I’ve grown to like it more now that I’ve spent more time venturing outside of the immediate area…

I agree on being iffy about LA as a city. Definitely not up there with one of the “better” cities to live in, IMO. More public transportation would be great

As a parent, I would like to see more emphasis on internships and learning about entry into the job market. My daughter, a senior in engineering, is one of the few students in her group who has had an internship. Be sure to look for internships early in your time at USC. Many of the companies like to re-hire their interns from the year before because they are familiar with them.

I think this must depend on what school you’re in because im a business major in Marshall and theres a HUGE emphasis on internship placement and preparing for the job market. Most business students do multiple internships during thier time at USC

Definitely better neighborhood and better public transportation options… more entertainment options :/

some schools need to fix some of their programs…

oh and food options still seems to suck even with the new student union building opening up (visited about 2 weeks ago) They are all chain restaurants and the food court area seemed really small?? (smaller than the giant onion tent) Although you can also eat outside…

I really hope the food places in the new campus center stay open later and on more days. Heck, I hope the campus center stays open more, period. Some of us (read: most of us) college students don’t operate on a 9-5 schedule.

I wish the engineering programs actually taught people to build things. We graduate amazing engineers who design amazing things, but not many can weld or machine.

As a new parent of an int’l student I wish that the registration (held today) was what they told us it would be. It wasn’t and most courses filled up in 2 secs - guessing that other students were just waiting to pounce on the precious 1-2 spots in the classes with demand.

Son did not get to register completely today, they are building it for him. So he does not even know what and who he is getting. He wont know until next week.
