What do you put in the conclusion?

I mean I know you're supposed to sum up the big idea of the essay, but if you're writing mostly about your own qualities, how do you make the conclusion sound interesting and exciting while refraining from sounding too egotistical?

And I guess in general what are you supposed to say other than summing up lessons/big ideas of your essay?

And about how many words should I save up? I know it varies a lot from essay to essay, but what's an average range, if there is one? Because I'm in danger of going over my word limit.

Sorry if the question's weird, but if you want to, just giving me tips on writing the conclusion would be great.

Not necessarily. I mean, you should do this to some extent, but don’t do it in a way that insults the reader’s intelligence. If they can’t tell what you said without you telling them, your writing probably wasn’t clear enough.

Try and say something you didn’t say before, but don’t introduce a completely new idea that sounds like it would require more paragraphs to explain.

Whatever/whoever you know that from is wrong. You have very limited space in an admissions essay. Use your conclusion to further your point rather than to summarize it.
