What do you think of campus?

I wasn't even seriously considering Occidental until I visited. It completely took me by surprise. Despite being in Los Angeles, the campus has a very quaint, old school kind of feel to it and I really loved it.
Anyone feel similarly?

i havent visited yet, but it looks GORGEOUS from pictures. although im so worried im not going to get in. i got rejected from one of my safeties today (although i think its because they knew i wasnt interested since i was definitely qualified) and wait-listed at tulane. but if i do get in, then im visiting ASAP in april!

I hear you...I'm trying my hardest to not get too emotionally invested in any one school, but it's harder than it seems.

The campus is sooooo beautiful. Just today I was sitting on the lawn by the fountain and admiring how gorgeous everything is with a fellow sophomore. No matter how long you are here it just keeps getting prettier and prettier.

Beyond the campus, think of these truisms about Occidental:

Year round warm weather

Incredibly close proximity to large urban area

Dry weather in fall and spring

Very friendly PEOPLE on the campus AND

Presidential candidate who attended

I did not attend, nor have my children. But, this is a diamond in the rough. Name another quality LAC which can also proclaim item 2 -- only a few others exist.

I have a question for anyone currently attending Oxy. Do you take advantage of LA and/or surrounding area's, and if so, how do students get around? Is there good public transportation or do you need a car? My daughter is considering Oxy and she would want to explore beyond the campus. How difficult is this? Are there fun things that students do off campus? Thanks for any reply!

My son is a sophomore at Oxy. He didn't take a car with him when he started as a freshman but quickly felt "limited" without it. He brought his car back to school with him after THanksgiving break and it really changed his experience. He now loves the area, enjoys nights out in Pasadena, goes regularly to Dodger games and events at Staples Center. He sometimes will go with friends to the beach. It's really easy to have a car at Oxy, parking permits are free and spaces not too tough to find.

I was at Oxy today and in addition to it being easy to have a car, they also described a shuttle service that included the option of getting together with others and borrowing the shuttle! Beautiful campus, beautiful weather, so so neighborhood. That being said it, was on foot and got as for as " Senor Fish" before I called a cab (not easy). Just a few miles further on Colorado seemed a bit more interesting.
