This is this alternate history space drama on Apple TV.
They made a trailer showcasing the danger and espionage.
And a soap opera styled trailer that seems to target the female demographic.
Was this a good idea or did it came out cringey?
In 2014 I asked a person who was one of my middle school teachers long ago that I still keep in touch with from time to time why sci fi was rare on TV. They said it was because there were more female than male viewers of TV and they preferred soap opera and reality TV fare.
Looks like an attempt to gain audience. I know when a major motion picture has a female superhero, the film does far worse at the box office than if the superhero is male. I doubt this will work.
Have you watched the show? I haven’t so can’t say which trailer is more representative of the feel of the show but it seems like there is more going on in the second trailer. Wonder if they felt like they needed to have lots of fiery rocket launches and people saying “WAR!” in the first one to appeal to the male audience? I saw the second trailer said it was from the people who brought you Battlestar Galactica and Outlander which are two shows that do have a good following with women I believe — Outlander for sure!
Trailer 1 is season 1, taking place in 1969/early70s whereas Trailer 2 is season 2, taking place in the 80s.
Each Trailer reflects the contents of the show.
