He-he. Today I made a 2-mile trip to Target and back, buying the things I needed. So, here it goes:
-Small towel
-Shampoo
-Soap
-Toothpaste
-Deodorant
-Notebooks
-Pensils
-Pens
-Erasers
-Stapler
-Electric Sharpener
-Desk Lamp
-Underwear...lots of it (I forgot to bring it here :( :) ). It was tough living on 2 pairs for a whole week.

Even though these things seem to be pretty obvious to take with you, sometimes (especially if you have to fly to Caltech and your parents don't want to ship it later) you just can't fit everything.

I don't know how much it helped, but there ya go :)

Underwear.
Paper.

Also, most importantly....

A harem of girls.

This mom should have brought fabric glue for my trip down to drop off my sophomore son. Go here http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=398024 for the story and let me know if you can think of any one could use the sleds.

Hriundeli, is it really two miles to the Target? The one on Colorado?

Oh, no - it's one mile to Colorado Target. But if you walk both ways....

I just mapped it. It is actually 1.2 miles to Target, from the South Houves (cutting thru campus, and then taking roads). It doesn't seem that far.

There is a new drugstore (cvs? walgreens?) going in at Del Mar and Lake, which is only .8 miles. That should make some errands faster.

BTW, both targets in Pasadena are on Colorado. The other one is at Madre, which would be further still.

Yep, they are puttin up Walgreens at Del Mar and S. Lake, but as far as I know, Walgreens doesn't sell bikes or mini-fridges (got to go to Target). As for groceries, one could go a little past S. Lake on California Blvd - there is some sort of super-market. I'd say it's the closest place to original hovses where people can buy food (so far).

1 Mount Baldy + 24 days at Christmas break = Good use for 7 sleds.

I wish I brought bandages and Neosporin.
Luckily, the Housing Office gave each of us a bag of stuff on the first day, which included a small pack of bandages.

The bag included a sample box of laundry detergent and a small bag with small amenities (which was pretty useful for frosh camp), among other things.

Each house has several health ads which are trained undergraduates. If you get into any (minor) injuries, find a health ad in your house and they should be able to help you out.

A printer. Though printing stuff out at the library isn't too bad.

And all the books I have at home that just happened to be required for my humanities class. Buying six books for one class is No Fun (tm).

A bike pump would have helped too, given Target sold me a bike with no wheel cap.

Every single undergraduate house has at least one printer. That's where I print all of my papers.
