i noticed that middlebury has a 2md ED policy? what does it mean? thanks.

Early Decision 2 is the same concept as Early Decision 1, except that you get an extra month and a half to apply. ED1 applications are due November 15, while ED2 applications are due January 1 (although both have earlier pre-application deadlines). Both ED1 and ED2 are binding (if you are admitted).

Besides having more time to put together your application, ED2 has another advantage--if you are not accepted ED1 at another school (notification usually is in December), then you can apply ED2 to Middlebury.

if i take SAT I on Nov.4 ,could I apply ED I?

huashi-- I thought the answer to your question was yes, but here's what the Admissions web page says:
"Results of the October ACT or the November SAT II will normally arrive in time to be reviewed for Early Decision 1"
reference: http://www.middlebury.edu/admissions/applying/rfd/

....which doesn't include the SAT I....can't imagine why SAT I scores couldn't be received in time if SAT II's are. Regardless, also note use of the term "normally"....this wouldn't give me much comfort that scores would absolutely, guaranteed be there in time. Plus, according to the College Board, Nov SAT scores will first be available by web on 11/28, and its reasonable to estimate that it will take a few days to get Middlebury after that date. So, its cutting it a bit close knowing that over half the ED1 review period will have expired by the time the Nov SAT scores arrive.

I suggest you contact admissions directly and ask.
