What is life like as an aerospace engineer? Is it generally exciting and generally monotonous? Going into the workforce, how hard would it be to get a job on the space side of things perhaps working for one of these new private space companies? Do most just work on gas turbines or something else not as interesting?

I'm considering my major situation right now and I'm trying to get as much information as possible.

I’ve got an uncle at Boeing. He describes it as very Dilbert/Office Space-like. Says he works in a cubicle, mostly checks emails, does paperwork, “MS Excel engineering”, some CAD stuff, lots of meetings, lots of dealing with MBA-types.

It does sound rather monotonous to be honest with you. Definitely not like the vibrant young college-like vibe you get when you hear about, for example, working at Google. But I wouldn’t want to work there either :P
