If I were straight, I would totally date you, Guitar. ;)

But, I'm not. :)

I need to go write a spanish essay.

If I were straight, I would totally date you, Guitar. ;)

But, I'm not. :)

I need to go write a spanish essay.

corranged, what are you taking about? You do have marriage now! These are still Massachusetts bars, jeez.

And if you were dating me, you wouldn't be straight for long anyway, so it's all good. ;)

EDIT: Oops, misread that as my name, but it doesn't matter anyway.

corranged, I totally understand, but if you want to put in the good word to this girl at school for me.......

lol

haha. i'd love to go to harvard and meet you guys. lol

massachusetts has marriage for now. who knows what it will be like in a couple years? these anti-marriage guys went and got tons of signatures, so if 1/4 of the state legislature approves a constitutional ban two years in a row the issue will go to voters around 2008.

sorry for writing that in first grade speech. lol

The Duality-Hijax Conjecture:
As the number of posts in a thread in the Harvard Forum approaches infinity, the probability of that the last post in the thread pertains to affirmative action approaches 1.

Conjecture? I feel insulted.

Yeah but I remember seeing a poll in the globe recently saying that something like 50% of Massachusetts voters would vote down the proposed ban to about 30% who would vote for it, so I'm guessing it's around to stay.

Corranged--If I go to Harvard or MIT, I'll vote it down for ya! :D

Haha, I'm going to vote no for sure!

On the other hand, even if it gets voted down, I'd like to encourage same-sex couples to keep getting married even if they can't get stupid pieces of paper from the government saying they're married. The only difference is the health insurance benefits. So keep buying rings, people!

does somebody have an overwhelming EC that you concentrate on and put your passion on it so much? that helps for ivies.

Are you looking for an example, or just asking in general if we CCers do?

looking for an example

My passion is computer science and programming. I think GuitarMan's is either astronomy or astrophysics, but I'll let him speak for himself.

Oops wait, ec's... misunderstood, sorry. Nope, none here. I co-founded a community service program, but I think a lot of Ivy applicants do that.

Astronomy, astrophysics, it's all good ;) I'll consider my passion as an EC since I translated it into research activity. I'm one of a very small group of students in the country doing publishable astro research, and my project so far is really the only astro project winning competitions like Siemens and will be one of two high school projects presenting at the AAS (Amer. Astro. Soc.) meeting next week, etc. So my application is probably unique in that it's one of a very few, if not the only, application(s) with such high-level astro research and I made it very clear that this is really my passion and Harvard or wherever I go is the next stepping-stone on what I hope to be a very productive research career.

So if Harvard needs astronomers, I'd probably be on their short list for that :p And thus, I am unique :D hehe

Haha I think I was in a similar position, but only because it was Harvard and all the people with CS research apply to MIT instead. ;)

filmxoxo17: that is really outstanding. conferences in every continent? wow!

somebody think this is unique or common?
(i posted this thing one 2-3 other threads for those that have seen it)

i started service towards my city and got permission to clean the city e very saturday. got awarded and met the mayor. still continuing this...

plans in the future: maybe write a book about environmental issues/awareness
maybe have an appointment with the mayor and talk about the environmental issues in this city

what do you guys think? preety common or kinda unique?

I'd say that's unique.

And apparently filmxoxo17 deleted his post or something. Maybe it was too revealing, which is understandable. :)

yeah you're right? where did it disappear?

I think he deleted it for personal reasons or something, I didn't get a chance to read it but it sounds like it had personal info that might have identified him.

Best just leave it be. It's moot now anyway.
