<p>Hi there :)
I was wondering if it's possible to become a nurse practioner if u have a bachelors degree in something other than nursing. I'm going to be applying to colleges this fall and my primary goal is to go to med school and become a physician. However, I'm aware of how difficult it is to get into med school nowadays so I figured I should have a backup plan in case I don't get into med school. And since I'm interested in entering the health care field for numerous reasons I thought the best backup plan would be to become a nurse practioner. I know for premeds u can major in whatever u want as long as u fulfill the med school requirements but if I majored in, say, philosophy, and I don't make it into med school, is it possible to get my masters degree in nursing even tho I didn't get a BS degree in nursing?
Thanks in advance to any and all help/advice it's greatly appreciated :)</p>
<p>Since no one is helping and I dont know i thought I would point you to the BLS as they now have a scpecific category for it:</p>
<p>[Nurse</a> Practitioners](<a href=“http://www.bls.gov/soc/2010/soc291171.htm]Nurse”>http://www.bls.gov/soc/2010/soc291171.htm)</p>
<p>I’m not an expert but I believe you must have a BSN before pursuing the MSN that is required to become an NP.</p>
<p>1st BSN (including passing the NCLEX) then MSN/NP</p>
<p>Alright, this is good to know. I appreciate the help cuz I really don’t know anything about becoming a nurse haha.</p>
<p>and, don’t forget to read
