what does it take to become an accounting professor in a community college?

Can passing the CPA good enough? Can I apply while finishing my MS degree?

just need some idea..

Well, what my professor did was passed the CPA exam and received her MS in tax. Then she was evaluated for several semesters before getting offered a full time position.

Shoot for the stars! lol.

The CPA is not a requirement, but it is definitely preferred. You will need to have a MS degree in any discipline, as long as you have a bachelors in accounting, or vice versa. Still, you can become a professor while pursuing you MS degree, but you must complete it. I assume you might have question like: “Well, if I have a double major and a CPA, can I become a professor?” The answer is no, but there might be some states or some schools that might have an exception. However, generally, you are not allowed to teach at a college level without having a MS degree or being in the process of obtaining it.

I’ve also met accounting professors at a community college, and some of them had non accounting masters degrees. In fact, they taught courses in both disciplines.

Depends on the college. B.S. Acct + CPA is equivalent to having a masters at many community colleges.

In addition to the professional qualifications it doesn’t hurt to have a lack of ambition and/or low self-esteem.
