What does Stanford look for?

What does Stanford look for in high school applicants?

Basically whatever a top college wants: academic success, commitment to extracurricular activities, and especially a unique personality that shows who you are through your essays.

They look for people who don’t ask “What does Stanford look for?”

Athletes. Really. Athletes. Stanford believes that the discipline shown in high physical achievement translates to good human qualities that they want on campus. You need to be nationally ranked. If you are not an athlete, don’t waste your SCEA shot here; more so , if you are white.

placido240 is correct. No white applicant has ever been admitted to Stanford without being a nationally recruited athlete.

Wow really?

I believe that was sarcasm, NO295208.

Easy answer: greatness.

I would disagree. I read somewhere on the internet (so it MUST be true) that Stanford actually scours the internet for posts like this. Based on the user’s other posts, they match up the poster with the real life application, and that application will receive a boost. It’s not guaranteed admission, but the demonstrated interest is noted and appreciated.

 @ this question.

Nulli’s post really makes sense when you think about it. If Stanford didn’t do this, they’d have a terrible yield rate, with all their students declining them for HYPM (Ever noticed how they’re always at the end of HYPMS?).
This thread = win
I suppose that the best way of showing interest would be to create posts like this on a couple of forums. Including personal information couldn’t hurt either.
