What does USNEWS peer-accessment score really measure?

InterestedDad, I am in 100% agreement with your post.

My comments about Wellesley and Smith are only meant to address the flaws of the USNews rankings and do not address the quality of education or reputation of the schools. As a CC member, I am more interested to read the reports of parents such as Mini, TheDad, or Jyber about what really happens at the school than taking clues from a ranking report. The same comment applies to you when it comes to Swarthmore and Williams.

I also agree that Wel and Smith provide wonderful opportunities when it comes to admissions. For example, for students who are not afraid to "waste" their ED ticket, the odds become trivial for a top ranked school. Adding the possibilities of venturing off campus that ranges from taking advantage of the consortium or participating in the exchange program in Engineering with Princeton and you have a very compelling niche market.

PS I think that Harvey Mudd suffers from its "funny" name and the fact of being ranked as a LAC. The most egregious element of USNews' analyses is the penalty imposed on the expected graduation rate that is derived from its very high SAT scores.

can anyone give a link to the peer assessments for all schools?

Those are just the research universities.
