How can I send messages CADREAMIN?
Were you able to receive any SCA scholarships @CADREAMIN
I don’t have a student in SCA, that is @WWWard 's area of expertise. All I know is there is some invite in the spring that may be a hint at acceptance. I’m more familiar with the January merit awards for the non-performance schools - Viterbi, Marshall, Dorsife, Thornton (non performance), etc. But with less than a 4% acceptance rate, SCA is the most competitive school within USC. I would try to get “dream school” out of your student’s mind best you all can in the next month or two and have other options he loves. Otherwise, what should be an exciting (albeit tension-filled) time, can turn into one of sadness and disappointment that is even harder to recover from for those that are locked on a “dream school.” Hope for best, but have a B plan. Everyone applying to USC should. About 8,000 will be accepted (of which around 1000 of those already were), more than 55,000 will not be. 5-5-0-0-0 That is a big pot of disappointment. But those with a B plan will move on to another option more quickly.
But if one is fortunate enough to get in, they can be very good with those with strong financial need. But remember too, a USC merit scholarship would take the place of financial aid. So if the FA office determines your grant aid should be $27,500, and you were to receive a presidential scholarship for half tuition (let’s say that = $27,500), the merit would simply erase the financial aid. You net the same amount. They don’t stack.
@CADREAMIN, I thank you so very much for your insightful info. My son was very fortunate to get accepted into one our local universities. USC was the only university that he applied to out of state.
