What effect do parental donations to a college have on admission?

Hi all,
First of all, I don't mean this question to be snobby or disrespectful to anyone in anyway. My dad has donated a considerable amount of money to Georgetown during the past few years as there is a program there which he would very much like to see succeed. What effect if any will this have on my chances for admission?

Thanks

Relatives of substantial donors can sometimes get a closer look in admissions. If admitted, these are called “developmental admits”. Now how much that threshold might be is different for each school as well as the selectivity of its applicant pool. Have your father speak to his contact at G’Town’s Development office and politely inquire. Good luck to you nonetheless.
