What Essays Work Best?

<p>Some colleges ask for an essay that is largely free-wheeling. You can talk about anything, like your hobbies or the death of a pet. But other colleges ask very specific questions like "why our university?" How do you answer such a question? What is the best tactic when you're asked what I consider a very mundane question? You could answer a question like that with nothing but boring bullet points. It doesn't you, or so it seems, to really show off your ability to craft a dramatic story. </p>
