<p>To wade into this discussion, homeschoolmom is objecting to the idea that the stats presented "demonstrate how APs impact students' performance in college." I agree that there is a correlation between students taking APs and their performance in college; what is NOT demonstrated is the impact of AP on college performance. As homeschoolmom points out, students who take APs are more motivated to begin with, and probably feel better prepared to take APs than those who do not. One would thus assume that, in college, they would benefit from this greater motivation and better preparation than their peers who did not take APs. This would take the form of better performance in college. But this better performance does not demonstrate the impact of AP.</p>
