This is my first time posting a discussion here, sorry if i did anyhting wrong
I’m in a really sticky situation? I’m currently a senior in high school in Brooklyn, NY and i was recently applying for stony brook, as i submitted my application earlier in late january when the deadline was on February 1st, 2017 (in terms of documents, etc.). Before that time I had already decided that i wanted to go to Stony Brook so i had submitted my SAT scores in Early November through College Board with their school code - 2548.
from my SAT score receipt:
11/02/16 Your SAT Score Report Order Invoice
STONY BROOK UNIVERSITY STATE UNIVERSITY NEW YORK will receive all your score:
After i had done this, I had assumed that my application was complete and ready to go.
However, I received today what would be a cryptic email from the Stony Brook college and on my (Stony Brook’s) SOLAR account 4 HOURS AGO:
“Thank you for applying to Stony Brook University. According to our records, we have not yet received your standardized test scores, which are needed to complete your application. If sent within the last three weeks, they may still be in transit or awaiting processing.”
I nearly flipped out seeing this. I’m really confused about this since I had already sent the scores in December and the fact they had the NERVE to notify me about this 5 DAYS after the deadline for Stony Brook. Currently I have a few days for them before they ‘process’ my application. At this point I’m thinking about resending my scores by repaying their fees or even using Rush reporting and paying $30+ more, and talking to my college adviser. I’m really stressed right and i don’t know what to do. I always feel like college and their applications intentionally try to make sure you can’t complete your requirements successfully . What should i do NOW? Somebody if anyone plz help me out by responding asap I’d greatly appreiciate it. :’(
The same thing happened to D16 last year with a different school. Call Stony Brook asap. In D16’s case, I think they took a scan of her official report (but still denied her). She didn’t have to send them again.
I think they would be fine if you screenshot and inform them of the situation. They will know that it is a mistake on the CB’s part and people usually don’t lie about their SAT scores. So even if they don’t have official score report they can still make a decision as long as your SAT does get to them in a few weeks,
thank god it all worked out today. I had my school’s College Office secretary to personally call Stony Brook after I had showed her the ‘proof’. Apparently, On my CollegeBoard form (My name) displayed Robert L (Last Name) BUT my Common Application in which i submitted for Stony Brook displayed Robert Ly (Last Name), which I didn’t even realize at all when i was doing my applications , my school’s college office secretary told me that THIS was the problem for Stony Brook that they couldn’t distinguish between which of the two were ‘real’ and if they had ‘matched’ (which i kind of find really bs) and that they planned to put me on wait list. Luckily they were able to work it out with my college office secretary clarifying things and that i would now be all set for evaluation. I just wished they didn’t just base basic evaluation on such minuscule details of a middle name but of course i understand that for evaluating few thousand + people, they had to look it over.
Then how would you match up records for 35,000 applicants? My wife works with a database at a non-profit. She has people with the same first, last and middle name. They have to use another field to differentiate.
