What if I get rejected from everything?

Let's say that I get rejected from all my colleges, including my one and only safety. What would I do then?

Would I be a failure?

Would I have to go to community college then transfer to a university?

What would I do?

Yes.

Yes.

The answer to ^

It would mean you didn’t choose the right schools. You can still apply to universities, most don’t stop accepting applicants until the summer before the new fall term. You can go to a community college and do your gen. ed requirements and transfer to a four year.

This should NEVER happen. Thats why you apply state schools that are really easy to get into just in case. This only happens when you safety is super selective and all the other schools are also very selective.

And no you wouldn’t be a failure, you just failed in making the right choices.

^ Going along with that, this only happens when people overestimate their safeties. A safety is a school you absolutely, without any doubt, know you will get into, because you are rather overqualified. Failing to understand this can result in rejection from all schools.

Then you didn’t have a safety.

Or if you assume a school like Northwestern (just grabbing a random school from the tier right below Ivies, don’t flame plz) is your safety, then your hubris will lead to your downfall. (didn’t that sound deep? I thought it did).

then you apply to Evergreen State College and go smoke pot in the trees while other people are impressed by you attending a “respectable up and coming public liberal arts college”

I kid, I kid. Sort of. It does have a 90+% acceptance rate though

Join the military and gain some confidence.

it would be your fault in making a wrong list of schools.

You can always become a hippie and do a lot of drugs.

This definitely should not happen if you have a couple of true safeties (high acceptance rate) and you take every one of your essays seriously. I know of kids who got into Stanford, Princeton, Harvard… but were rejected from UCB, Duke and Northwestern! How did that happen? They were perplexed, but I am pretty sure they did not spend nearly enough time on the non-Ivy applications. For them, it worked out, but it doesn’t for everyone.

@Kenzie? Rofl, is Evergreen well known throughout the country, especially for being a pot head’s paradise? I live literally 10 minutes away from it, and sometimes sub as a fill in for a host of a reggae program on their radio station xD. I also learned how to swim in their pool, and my mom’s an alumni.

And no, I don’t like pot (or any drug) :). I actually wanted to be a cop to fight the war on drugs xD.

If you get rejected from your safety, then it wasn’t a safety. In which case you screwed up.
